First Calves Arrive!

Saturday, March 29, 2014

The family got up at 4:00 AM and rode along with me to New Kensington, PA to pick up our first load of 6-month old Red Angus calves. It was a cold and rainy day but the calves still had their winter coats and didn’t seem bothered by it. I guess they’ve been surviving just fine for millennia before humans decided we should keep them in barns.

The Thousand Hills beef herd has officially begun with five heifers and two steers.
